As any good story does-

it started with a dog…

My name is Kourtni and I’m a Certified Canine Training and Behavior Specialist.

Growing up, I always loved my dogs.  However, I had many limiting beliefs when it came to dog ownership and how canine’s learn.

A few of the popular ones:

  • Once a dog develops bad behaviors you can only learn to live with them and tolerate it

  • The dogs on TV doing fancy tricks are an anomaly

  • You either have a smart dog or a stubborn dog and it’s luck of the draw

  • Dogs need to be punished and dominated to know their place

Any of these sound familiar?

Spoiler alert: none of these are true!

After many years of self-study, formal schooling, loving, learning from, and losing several dogs, and daily continuing education, I can without a doubt attest to the incredible potential of our canine companions.

I am honored to not only share my life with my own soul dog, Knox, but to also take part in the journey of my client’s towards deepening their love and understanding of their own counterparts.

My goal is to provide as many opportunities as possible for owners and families to get the help and encouragement they need to create lasting change and to love every moment of the all too short and very precious time we have with our faithful companions.

Good dog.  Better you.  Best life.

This is Fort Knox's Crimson-Stained Arete, but you can refer to him by his call name, Knox. Knox is a 5-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer and the absolute epitome of an Actualized Canine.

None of this would be possible without Knox’s endless devotion, patience, and insatiable drive to work.

When not begrudingly posing for his 587th photo op of the day, Knox can be found:

  • Titling in NADD Dock Diving

  • Mastering scentwork drills for NACSW and AKC

  • Causing chaos on the agility field

  • Running circles around his family on hikes around the Western Slope

  • Being a perfect demo dog for The Actualized Canine clients

  • Inquisitively partaking in yet another ridiculous task that his mom comes up with.
